So sometime yesterday (Sunday the 8th) 2 of my friends quit getting my texts, Funny thing is they are both on AT&T. The only friends on AT&T I was texting with at the time, I have a couple others, but you get the picture. Well all my other friends on other Carriers were getting every text I was sending just fine. So with the recent outage I decided to wait until this morning to call and have it looked into, Beside Customer Non Service is never open on a Sunday Night. I call and get told it is my SIM card. Ok, this makes no sense at all anyways, I would say if it is a failure on my side it would be across the board, not just One Carrier. So I go and get the new SIM, Wait for my phone to get on the network, Alas Still No Luck. I call and get told this time it must be an error with my phone on the network. So they walk me through resetting and deleting all my data. Gee Thanks. Again Still not able to text AT&T users that I am aware of. i call my friend and have them call AT&T to see if there is an issue, they get told No, mean while One of My Two Friends starts getting my texts randomly. I call again, Oh, but it seems it is still my phone even though it is just One User. I know this, if it was My Phone then all texts would be out. Not One Other User. They need to look into finding out why and actually fix it, I will be dropping T Mobile as soon as possible.

When Cell Phones Dont Work..
Well yesterday I found myself getting emails that my phone number was no longer in service by those I work for. This would not be a problem except well My Bill was just paid and I had no intentions of canceling my number. So I try calling my provider to find out if there was an error with my bill. I could not even call customer care. I mean I would dial and get nothing. No Dial Tone, No Busy tone, No Nothing. So I figure Wow I really got shut off, so I pick up a land line and call them, It would just go dead. Total outage. I could not text, but funny thing is, My Web Services would work. So I load up in the Gas Guzzling SUV and head to the T Mobile store to find out, I get told oh it is just small outage and will be back on in an hour. 6 hours later it went from a small outage to national outage to a global outage. I today still am having patchy service. I am rethinking my Contract with T Mobile, They cost me a lot of money in lost revenue yesterday. Today is not any better, all this on the tail of losing all the sidekick users data? I am happy I use a blackberry but still this is getting ridiculous.

The Importance of Backups
Well a lot has happened since our last posting. Just minutes after we left our hero camper an apple fell from the tree he was under and landed on the laptop, right on the hard disk. Well we have now spent many days trying to recover the data on said hard drive. Our hero has decided to say blah and format the hard drive, whipping out his handy wd passport drive copies his my documents and mail off the hard drive and spends the next two days rebuilding windows. After the tedious rebuild, windows started having errors and now the hard drive will not even format. This folks does have a Moral to the story. If it was not for thumb drives and pocket sized external hard drives, our hero's data would be completely lost. You should always have a good backup at all times because you never know what may happen.

First Posting
Well the story on this blog started just a few days ago. We are out camping you see and just after we pitched the tent, one of the people I am camping with looks at my nice roomy tent and notices a spot marked 'Power Cord Access'. The comment ensued then that " You know Technology is so much a part of our life when even camping gear has spots for it.". Mind you I am posting this blog from my laptop sitting infront of the Tent pitched. Access to the web via WiFi with a Blackberry for backup.
The point of this blog will be observations of how High Tech Gadgets have gotten so into our lives we cant live without them, even when trying to escape the daily grind of life.
